Chris “Fish” Bishop

Bass Guitar

Ontario, Canada

Known on and off stage as “Fish,” Chris Bishop has been holding down the low end since the late ’70s with groove, grit, and a good story to match. Originally from Toronto, Fish first picked up the guitar at 15 while on probation—music became both a creative outlet and a turning point. A self-taught musician, his style blends the heartbeat of Motown, the soul of reggae, and the drive of rock & roll.

Fish’s first bass was a fretless—he figured fewer parts meant a cheaper deal. “I was wrong,” he laughs, “and had no friends to warn me otherwise.” Despite the early challenge, his unique approach and tone became his signature. He’s since gone on to perform with acts like Mixed Webster and Southern Fried, where his pedal-powered bass work keeps the floor moving.

In 2024, Fish joined The Rezberries, reconnecting with longtime friend Ed Bernard, whom he met in high school in 1980. On the day of his very first show with the band, Fish’s mother passed away. In a quiet act of strength and integrity, he took the stage anyway—honoring both his word and the kind of spirit his mother would’ve been proud of. That moment spoke volumes about who he is, both as a person and as a player.

Known for his deep pocket, inventive lines, and laid-back humour, Fish adds both foundation and soul to The Rezberries’ dynamic sound.
