Ed Bernard
Guitar, Violin, Banjo & more

Toronto, Ontario
Ed Bernard is a powerhouse multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based in Toronto. Known for his versatility and musical range, Ed’s typical day might include tracking searing rock guitar solos, Dixieland banjo licks, Delta blues on a resonator, or arranging a full orchestral score. He’s a one-man musical army.
At just 14, Ed was featured as a solo guitarist on the influential TV show The New Music, foreshadowing a career full of high-level creative achievements. By the mid-1990s, he was collaborating with Gary Williams, blending rock with traditional Indigenous music—a genre-crossing experience that would plant the seeds for their future work together.
Throughout the late ’90s and early 2000s, Ed toured extensively across North America with several acts, including Shania Twin, appearing on The Jenny Jones Show during that run. After years on the road, he shifted gears and founded his own production house, ED ID Productions.
As a studio wizard, Ed has produced numerous independent artists and lent his talents to TV and radio campaigns for major brands like Kraft, Dodge Ram, Jeep, Tostitos, and Hydroxycut. His skills have also made him a go-to collaborator for prominent producers including Matthew Gerrard and Richard Evans.
His film and TV credits are equally impressive: Ed played guitar, violin, dobro, mandolin, ukulele, and banjo on the soundtrack for 40 episodes of the Gemini Award–winning animated series Glenn Martin, DDS, and contributed vocals and guitar to The Wumblers. He also composed the score for a recent documentary about the Group of Seven and produced all four albums of the acclaimed progressive rock band Druckfarben.
In 2021, Ed reconnected with longtime friend Gary Williams. By 2024, that reunion gave birth to The Rezberries, where Ed brings his virtuosic talent, production expertise, and boundless creative energy to the heart of the band’s evolving sound.
